CrossLane House experience
Nestled at the base of Dunkery Beacon, just a short walk from the South West Coast Path, and flanked by dramatic Exmoor hills, Crosslane House is as charming and traditional as it is snug and welcoming. We have a penchant for buildings with character, and this house really does welcome you into its history like a warm hug. Accurately dating back to the 1500s, but with features going several centuries further back still, the word unique really doesn't do justice to the experience of staying here.
A beautifully finished interior enhances and gives focus to all those quaint features that give a building like this its personality. If these walls could talk, and all that. Low doorways, endearing wonkiness and ancient exposed wood are the fabric of a genuine gem that we are proud to offer as part of our retreat packages.
Rooms are cosy, traditional and indulgent, without feeling pretentious. Kick back in front of a roaring log burner, sink into sumptuous beds, indulge in the towering afternoon tea (you'll burn off those calories), check for otters and brown trout in the babbling stream or sip coffee and enjoy a book in the shade of the linhay. This really is a break from the norm and the perfect marriage between exhiliarating cycling and a place to stay that will leave you relaxed and recovered.
All meals are prepared on-site by the house chef showcasing the finest sustainable produce from Exmoor and across the South West, some of which is even grown within the garden grounds.
